Every Day Can't Be Perfect

Well, I have to say it was not my most frugal day ever. I was rushing to get out the door this morning and I didn't have take the time to make myself breakfast or coffee.  I grabbed two things that I had gotten for free from the grocery store: a vanilla protein shake and a fruit/vegetable beverage that was made of pineapple juice, cucumber, kale and spinach. The protein shake was pretty tasty but the other one wad yucky - I could taste every last ingredient in it  and it kind of grossed me out so I didn't finish it.

So I went to a local Starbucks to pick up something on the way. I forgot to tell the cashier about the freebie I had on my card, so I ended up paying $12 for my sandwich and drink! Ug! I guess the good news is that I still had that freebie loaded on my card.

So my total for today was $12 for not allowing myself an extra 10 minutes to get fully ready for the day.

Good Healthy Fun!

Today I attended a free Health Fair offered in my town. I learned about this fair by subscribing to my local county/district newsletters. It's amazing how much fun, free things there are to do! There were exercise and food demonstrations and free health screenings. I got my blood pressure and cholesterol checked. There were other screenings available too but I didn't participate in those. I did pick up lots of good information and freebies and even won one of the raffle prizes - check out this cool aluminum travel mug!

I also learned about the latest in fitness - Cardio Drumming!  Look at this woman go!  You go, girl!  Rock on!

After the fair, I picked up a coffee for myself using a gift card that I had and then helped a friend clean his barn. All of his friends there made me think of the Amish coming together to do a Barn Raising, but in this case it was a Barn Cleaning. Fresh air, exercise, and community spirit!

All this and I didn't spend a dime today!

Hello World!

Wow, I am sitting at my computer and realizing that the first blog is the hardest, I guess.  Here goes:

Due to having my position eliminated at work (i.e. I lost my job), I've been faced with needing to really stop all excessive spending.  Not that I've ever been an extravagant person, but I do enjoy looking nice, eating well, and having fun - don't we all?  So how can I "have the good life" when my only income at this time is from pitiful unemployment?

My goal is to live a a fantastic fun life, spending little to no money. I also plan to monitor my spending habits so I see "where it's all going".  Mortgage, utilities, medical expenses, basic groceries and health/hygiene needs are out of scope for this blog.  Hair, makeup, clothes, entertainment, and fitness are all fair game.  I want to prove that you don't have to spend a lot or even any money to look and and have a good time.  I plan to post one such thing every day (well most days).

So whether you are a starving artist, poor college student, or just someone who wants to live a rich life without a lot a money, I hope my journey helps you - or just entertains you!

Off we go!
